With our colleague Ms. Anuradha becoming one of the finalists for the 'WIN DRR Leadership Awards 2022' in the Excellence category, Doers has become the only organization in the world to have two of its team members as the finalists of this prestigious award by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
In the year 2021, our colleague Ms. Nidhi Kalta became one of the finalists for the WIN DRR Leadership Awards in the Rising Star category. Since 2015, Ms. Anuradha (Head of Programs, Doers) and Ms. Nidhi Kalta (Program Manager, Doers) have been contributing significantly towards the capacity development for disaster preparedness and response in India. This was one of the biggest factors behind their selection as the finalists for the WIN DRR Leadership Awards.
They have played a vital role in the success of 'Safety Through Emergency Preparedness (STEP)' - Doers flagship program on localized disaster preparedness. The program aims at building the capacities of local communities, academic institutions and commercial establishments over various aspects of disaster preparedness, including staying safe before, during and after a disaster as well as providing basic life support and CPR during an emergency situation.
Besides this, their involvement in the processes related to capacity building over Mental Health & Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) in Disasters and Public Health Emergencies in different states, mainly Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. They are the Resource Persons at various esteemed institutions for facilitating sessions on MHPSS, including Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) - Punjab, Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA), Himachal Pradesh State Institute of Health & Family Welfare (HP-SIHFW), Himachal Pradesh State Council of Educational Research & Training (HPSCERT), etc.. They have also been contributing to the processes related to the micro-mapping of critical facilities, infrastructure and resources for effective decision support before, during and after a disaster.
